All indications are that this lamp would burn in oil but no attempt has been made to test it. Wiring for electricity can easily be accomplished without harming this lamp in any way.

This lamp has seen much use over the years and has some age related flaws. None of which compromise this lamps integrity.

The finial cup was replaced with an original tin type. This is the only non-brass piece on the entire lamp. One hinge has has a loop missing, but still functions and holds tight.

The top signed cap has some stress cracks, these will not interfere with it's oil holding capacity. The oil reservoir tank is dented, but will not cause it to leak.

The white chimneys all have heat stains on the inside, caused by over-firing it and trying for maximum light. These stains do not show from the outside.
