Magnificent Manhattan
-
Signed on burner: Manhattan Brass Co. NY. Pat`d. May 23,1876 Dec.25, 1877--May 20, 1879
-
Wonderful upgraded lamp, which I suspect was a special factory order. It has many uncommon features, such as, a beautiful solid cast brass base, a different cast brass lift ring and a very scarce large cobalt blue fount. (similar to Fig.133 in Lamps of The Victorian Era, By Richard Miller) Fount is 3" in Dia. and 6" long, holds over 1-1/2 pints of fuel. It`s signed: Perfection Student Lamp, Pat. Nov. 22, 81.
-
Complete Original, all oil components are in place and working freely. Has the correct chimney, signed: Macbeth #20 Pearl Glass.
-
Electrified without harm, using a small halogen bulb with a Hi-Low dimmer switch for 50 or 100 watts of light. The small bulb allows use of the original chimney, giving a 100% authentic appearance.
-
A spectacular cased emerald green pinwheel shade, in the student style, graces this exceptional lamp. Scarce shade type, most of the pinwheel shades came in the Tam-O-Shanta shape. This shade has a few minor inclusions and wonderful stretch marks between the pinwheel blades, all caused by the hand making process. This all adds to the shades character and guarantees its authenticity.
-
Excellent condition, a nearly perfect shade. 9-3/4"fitter, 7-1/2" high dome. (what appears to be particles on the shade was caused from the film being used, they are not present in real life.
-
Lamp stands 23-1/2"tall, 15" wide, with a 6" dia. base.
-
A paramount lamp worthy of the finest setting, sure to gain in value, great investment potential.
